Top 10 Summer Fun Outdoors Ideas

Summer is our favourite season and we decided to share our best ideas for summertime activities with kids. Staying indoors is for sure not a top pick. All of those active fun ideas are very much enjoyable for parents too (as long as you are ready to get your hands and feet a little dirty).

1. SPLASHPAD

Our top activity for any summer day is SplashPad lounging. It is a safe, yet adrenaline loaded activity for the little ones. The kids are fully occupied while you can sit around and sip on some icy lemonade. Bonus workout for mommy - go and try out those awesome sprinklers yourself. What is there not to like?

2. BUBBLES

Bubbles are so much fun and easy to do for kids of all ages. Stock up on wholesale bubble soap in the beginning of summer so that you don't run out in the middle of the party.

3. PICNIC IN THE PARK

Pack some snacks and head to the nearest park. This activity is very well suited for babies, because they are not super mobile just yet and would get a kick from  rolling on a nice blanket outdoors. A great idea is to bring along a small speaker, so you can play some jazzy tunes and make this into a dinner party.

4. CHALK DRAWING

One of our dearest childhood memories is drawing with chalk on the warm asphalt ground. Kids get creative and make all the mess they want.

5. BIKES, SCOOTERS & WAGONS

All kids love being in motion. Keep it interesting with a variety of transportation options, while learning physical balance, coordination and street rules. Don't forget the helmet!

6. FLYING KITES

Kites take just a couple of minutes to set up on the beach or at the park, but it provides hours of outdoor fun.

7. CAMPING

Camping is one of the best ways to spend time with your kids. They'll learn new skills and gain a greater appreciation for the outdoors. It is perfect for larger families on a budget, or anyone who wants to spend a night or two in the wild.

8. PICK BERRIES ON A FARM

Food has become such a convenience that many of our kids lack the knowledge or understanding of where it actually comes from. Taking your kids to a u-pick strawberry farm  is a super fun way to help educate your kids about farming. Strawberries for lunch? Why not.

9. STARGAZING

Once thought to be little more than simply a romantic pastime, stargazing is now considered to be an educational activity for kids that can teach them about math, astronomy, the environment and mythology.

Most kids are so distracted by mundane activities that they have no idea of their place and role in the world or universe. Stargazing helps kids develop that much-needed perspective. And what’s more, you don’t have to an expert astronomer in order to teach your kids about stars!

10. GO FOR A NATURE WALK

Enjoying a nature walk is one of the easiest summertime outdoor activities. Encourage kids to feel the texture of rocks, barks of trees, and dried up leaves. These are science experiences for young inquisitive minds.

There you go! Now go and have fun :)
